Student Code of Conduct

Purpose

This Code of Conduct establishes expectations for behavior within the Essal community to create a positive, respectful learning environment.

Scope

This code applies to all students enrolled in any Essal program while on campus, using online learning platforms, participating in school-sponsored activities, or representing Essal in any capacity.

Academic Integrity

Students must:

  1. Complete their own work and not present others' work as their own
  2. Properly cite all sources used in assignments
  3. Not share their work with others for the purpose of cheating
  4. Not use unauthorized materials during assessments
  5. Not alter academic or attendance records

Respectful Behavior

Students must:

  1. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
  2. Refrain from disruptive behavior that interferes with teaching or learning
  3. Use appropriate language in all communications
  4. Respect the diversity of the Essal community
  5. Follow instructions from Essal staff and faculty

Facility and Resource Usage

Students must:

  1. Use Essal facilities and equipment only for authorized purposes
  2. Report damaged equipment or facilities promptly
  3. Follow safety guidelines in all learning environments
  4. Respect designated quiet areas
  5. Leave shared spaces clean and organized

Technology Use

Students must:

  1. Use Essal's IT resources in accordance with institutional policies
  2. Not attempt to circumvent security measures
  3. Not use Essal technology resources for illegal activities
  4. Respect others' privacy and data
  5. Not introduce malicious software into Essal systems

Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are prohibited:

  1. Harassment or discrimination of any kind
  2. Bullying, including cyberbullying
  3. Theft or damage to property
  4. Possession of weapons or dangerous materials
  5. Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
  6. Threatening or violent behavior
  7. Unauthorized recording of classes or individuals

Reporting and Compliance

  1. Students are encouraged to report code violations to appropriate staff
  2. Retaliation against those who report violations is prohibited
  3. Violations will be handled according to our disciplinary procedure

Consequences for Violations

Depending on severity and frequency of violations:

  1. Verbal warning
  2. Written warning
  3. Probation
  4. Suspension
  5. Expulsion
  6. Referral to law enforcement when appropriate
