Purpose
This Code of Conduct establishes expectations for behavior within the Essal community to create a positive, respectful learning environment.
Scope
This code applies to all students enrolled in any Essal program while on campus, using online learning platforms, participating in school-sponsored activities, or representing Essal in any capacity.
Academic Integrity
Students must:
- Complete their own work and not present others' work as their own
- Properly cite all sources used in assignments
- Not share their work with others for the purpose of cheating
- Not use unauthorized materials during assessments
- Not alter academic or attendance records
Respectful Behavior
Students must:
- Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
- Refrain from disruptive behavior that interferes with teaching or learning
- Use appropriate language in all communications
- Respect the diversity of the Essal community
- Follow instructions from Essal staff and faculty
Facility and Resource Usage
Students must:
- Use Essal facilities and equipment only for authorized purposes
- Report damaged equipment or facilities promptly
- Follow safety guidelines in all learning environments
- Respect designated quiet areas
- Leave shared spaces clean and organized
Technology Use
Students must:
- Use Essal's IT resources in accordance with institutional policies
- Not attempt to circumvent security measures
- Not use Essal technology resources for illegal activities
- Respect others' privacy and data
- Not introduce malicious software into Essal systems
Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors are prohibited:
- Harassment or discrimination of any kind
- Bullying, including cyberbullying
- Theft or damage to property
- Possession of weapons or dangerous materials
- Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
- Threatening or violent behavior
- Unauthorized recording of classes or individuals
Reporting and Compliance
- Students are encouraged to report code violations to appropriate staff
- Retaliation against those who report violations is prohibited
- Violations will be handled according to our disciplinary procedure
Consequences for Violations
Depending on severity and frequency of violations:
- Verbal warning
- Written warning
- Probation
- Suspension
- Expulsion
- Referral to law enforcement when appropriate
Appeals Process
Students have the right to appeal disciplinary decisions by following our formal appeals procedure.
